      What's New! — e-Wave

'Tis The Season To Be Stressed...

It’s been a while since I’ve been here and much has happened.  Most obviously, the summer has zipped by and we are well into winter now with Christmas only around the corner.

Remember when it was still August and every major high street store seemed to bring out their Christmas decorations on the same day?  How I scoffed at the comercialisation of a holiday that is meant to be about family, friends and the spirit of love and giving.  Who on earth would buy anything remotely Christmassy when we were still lazying around and enjoying the last of the sunshine?

However, fast forward 4 months and I’m running around like a maniac trying to get all of my Christmas shopping finished before the season well and truly sets in.  I am always one of the last few stragglers left running up and down the West End on the eve of Christmas, panic-buying inappropriate, useless gifts for my neareast and dearest.  The energy, stress, not to mention the cash!  Oh indeed, Christmas is an expensive time of year, in more ways than one.

However, I have had a head start this year.  With powerbanks, wireless speakers and wireless chargers, I have almost completed all of my Christmas shopping.

The new e-Wave Stereo speakers are a god-send for buying a gift for the boyfriend.  They are ideal for him.  Coming as pair, I can see it now, they’ll sit proudly either side of his living room.  You can place them up to 10 metres apart wirelessly and they play in stereo, replicating natural sound.  No mess, no wires.  And they will play up to 10 metres away from your device.

And boy do they pack a mean punch.  The sound is great on them.

And the beauty is that I know it’s a useful present that he’ll love.  No stuffing away quietly in the lonely cupboard...the land of forgotten panic-bought gifts. Value for money. Excellent.

Now I think I’ll just replicate that present for my brother, sister, best friend…Pre-Christmas stress? Pah! Sorted!

The Best Things Come in Small Packages...

The world loves things in micro form. That’s a pretty obvious fact, I know. But
our obsession with making things tinier and tinier is actually quite fascinating. I
can’t say that when a well-loved product launches its new smaller, thinner,
sleeker version, my eyes don’t pop with wonderment.

Technology has moved at lightning pace in the last ten years, it’s hard to keep up with all the new and exciting changes. But one thing is incredible whether you keep updated or not...How does technology become ever more advanced, in such small models?

Laptops have got thinner, PC monitors sleeker, MP3s are virtually non-existent to hold; a radical change considering that less than ten years ago, we barely had access to emails on the move. Tablet PCs have changed the game yet again, now that we can do practically anything, all on the move and by carrying a device that is no bigger than a thin notebook. Downloading movies, books, accessing emails and the internet, getting directions, making calls, playing games; these were things we could barely even dream of in the early 1990s.

Twenty years ago, the few of us who had mobile phones walked around with big blocks attached to our ears. Over the years they have got smaller and smaller, as designers came up with innovative ways to make things miniscule without compromising the quality (or frankly just coming up with ways you could still see the screen!) Anyone remember the Samsung u550? So minute, the designers came up with a flip screen for customers to still be able to see it without a magnifying glass.

Our want of small technology is just in our nature. We don’t want to carry around or use heavy, bulky products. We want to travel lightly. We want minimal fuss, instant access and great quality in one.

I saw the game change yet again when I tried out the new Bitmore e-Atom. The best things certainly do come in small packages. The world’s smallest wireless portable Bluetooth speaker certainly does pack a punch. The bass is incredible for such a small speaker and the beauty about this little thing is that you can carry it anywhere, even on your keychain! And just like the e-Wave and e-Storm speakers, it also has a conference calling feature, which means you can take your calls on it. All that in a speaker no more than 3.8 cm tall!!! Wow! Just amazing!

As the world, and all the gadgets in it, keep getting smaller, how does the future look for the next wave of technological advances? At this rate, it doesn’t look like sizes can shrink much more...or maybe I’m wrong.

Ways To Get Into The Summer Spirit...

So the summer is upon us.  Well it should be anyway.  We have had glimpses of it, little tasters to tantalize us, but we are yet to have a prolonged period of some much-missed sunshine.  My shorts and flip flops are constantly at the ready to break out of the deepest, darkest corners of my wardrobe, only to be disappointed on a daily basis.

Never one to count on the glorious British summer, I’m buying my summer cheer this year…and I’m not talking about buying a one way ticket to the Caribbean.  I’m talking about sipping on Pimms and devouring homemade ice cream during my makeshift Wimbledon party at home.  Well why not?  If the sun isn’t going to shine, I might as well pretend like it is!  And what better reason do I need then a Wimbledon final?  After all, Andy has made it this far, and who knows…we might just be on our way to a tennis bank holiday if he wins.

And for when Wimbledon is over, what to do then with all my fellow sunshine-deprived guests?  Well that’s when the party gets going.

I have been singing the praises of portable Bluetooth speakers for as long as my friends and family care to remember, but everyone sees my point once I blast them some tunes on it.  Especially when I daisy-chained two of my e-Waves. I previously thought one was brilliant, as it was enough to fill a room full of people; but when I hooked two up together so they played in stereo- well that’s when things started to really get going!

I’m not going to waste time droning on and on about how brilliant the speakers are, as to be honest; unless you hear them and try them, you won’t have a clue about what I’m talking about.  These babies need to be tried and tested to see the brilliance.

So instead I’ll recommend this- buy yourself some guaranteed summer.  It’s brilliant, I promise.  You won’t have to bother checking the weather reports or praying that the sun will still be shining by the weekend.  Simply get a bunch of your friends together, break out the Pimms (maybe experiment with some homemade cocktails- I personally recommend a Jelly Bean Mojito) and get your playlists at the ready.  With your Bluetooth speakers, even if you’re playlists run out, or if they’re not to everyone’s tastes, just get your one of your mates to synch their smart phoneiPod up to it.  It couldn’t get any easier!  And hey presto, you’re ready to dance the night away summer style, come rain or some-much-needed shine!
